Danville KY is also known as, “The City of Firsts,” deriving from several historical events that took place here. Danville was the location for the 1st courthouse in Kentucky (1785), the 1st US Post Office west of the Alleghenies (1792), and the 1st capital of Kentucky. Danville was also the location of the 1st college in the west (1783) and also hosted the 1st constitutional convention in the west held in 1792 when Kentucky’s 1st constitution was signed.

Today Danville, the county seat of Boyle County, is a thriving community of approximately 16000 and hosts several nationally recognized events throughout the year such as the KY Barbeque Festival, the Bourbon Chase, and the Great American Brass Band Festival. Danville is also home to Centre College (EST 1819) which is one of the most prestigious small liberal arts colleges in America.

Perryville KY is a small town just west of Danville and is better known for its significance during the American Civil War. The Battle of Perryville was fought on October 8, 1862 just outside Perryville, whose basis then was a line of buildings along side of the Chaplin River, which is now called “Merchant’s Row”. These historical building still stand today and are one of the focal points for the Perryville Celebration that is held each year in early October commemorating the Battle of Perryville. The Battle of Perryville ended the Confederacy Campaign for Kentucky which in turn played a vital role for the Union victory of the American Civil War. Stop by our office located on Historic Merchant’s Row to discuss your plans or future here in our area!
